Troubleshooting
If you run into any problem when using your camera, use the following
table as a guide to troubleshoot the problem. If the problem persists,
contact your Sony dealer or local authorized Sony service facility.
While shooting
Symptom
Possible causes/Action
A picture cannot be
taken when you press
the release button.
The flash does not light.
• The PLAY/CAMERA switch is not to set to CAMERA.
t
Set the switch to CAMERA.
• The camera is getting ready to take a picture (the
standby lamp is flashing).
t
Wait until the standby lamp lights in green.
• The memory is full (the standby lamp is flashing in
red).
t
Check the displayed remaining number of shots
that can be taken. If zero, erase any picture that is
not necessary.
• The flash button is not set appropriately.
t
Set the flash button to A , or E.
• The cord of the external strobe is not connected to
the camera.
t
Connect the cord of the external strobe to the
FLASH jack of the camera.
• The battery is discharged.
t
Charge the battery or replace it with a new one.
t
The strobe may be out of life. Contact the Sony
service facility.
Liquid crystal display of the camera
Symptom
Possible causes/Action
When taking a picture,
no image is displayed
on the LCD.
No playback picture
appears.
If played back in cold
weather, the picture
may seem to present
curved sides.
The image presents
some red, blue and
green dots, or there are
black spots visible.
• The PLAY/CAMERA switch isset to PLAY.

Set the switch to CAMERA.
• The LCD MONITOR switch of the camera is set to
OFF.
t
Set the switch to ON.
• The image data are being transferred to the station.
t
The LCD is automatically turned on when the
image transfer is finished.
• The PLAY/CAMERA switch is set to CAMERA.
t
Set the switch to PLAY.
• Condition due to the liquid crystals.
t
