System Overview
The Sony UPA-D3 is a digital image processor that receives image data in
DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) format through the
network. It then sends the processed image data to digital color printers connected
through the SCSI interface.
The UPA-D3 contains a1Gbyte hard disk, a highspeed ethernet interface, and an
R4700CPU, so it can process the image data sent from modalities at highspeed and
temporarily store the processed data. Beyond that, the UPA-D3 can adjust picture
quality of the image data sent from each modality to meet modality’s need. This
makes it possible to reproduce picture quality specific to each modality.
The UPA-D3’s SCSI interface can connect up to six digital color printers.
