On Windows 8.1:
Right-click the name of the speaker in “Devices” and select [Sound settings] from the menu.

Confirm the speaker's name is on the “Sound” window.
If there is a checkmark (green) beside the speaker's name, proceed to step 5.
If there is no checkmark (green) beside the speaker's name, proceed to the next step (substep 3).
If the speaker's name does not appear, right-click on the “Sound” window, and select [Show Disabled
Devices] from the menu. Then proceed to the next step (substep 3).
