Operation
Overview of the remote control buttons
VCR Standby button
If you have connected a VCR to the TV, press to
switch on a VCR. Press again to switch the VCR off.
Mute button
Press to mute TV sound. Press again to restore the
sound.
TV button
Press to return to the normal operation from teletext
mode or standby mode.
Teletext button
Press to switch Teletext on and off.
This button has no function for this TV set.
Freeze button
Press to freeze the screen. Press again to return to
normal TV mode.
To select channels
Press the numbered buttons to select channels.
For double digit programme numbers, e.g.23, press
-/-- first, then the buttons 2 and 3.
Sound Menu button
Press to access the ‘Audio Adjustment’ menu. Press
the MENU button to remove the display.
Picture Menu button
Press to access the ‘Picture Adjustment’ menu. Press
the MENU button to remove the display.
To display the Channel Table
Press the OK button. Press the
v
or
V
button to select
the desired channel then press either the
B
button or
the OK button to confirm.
Volume buttons
Press to increase (+) or decrease (-) the volume.
MENU button
Press if you wish to use the TV menu system. Press
again to remove the menu from the TV screen.
Channel/Text Page select button
In TV mode:
Press to select the previous or next
channel.
In Teletext mode:
Press to select the previous or
next Text page.
TV Standby button
Press to temporarily switch off TV. Press again to
switch on from standby mode. To save energy, we
recommend switching off completely when TV is not
in use.
NOTE:
After 15-30 minutes without a TV signal and
without any button being pressed, the TV switches
automatically into standby mode.
Information button
Press to reveal all on-screen indications. Press again to
cancel. In Teletext mode, press to reveal the index
page (normally page 100).
Input Select/Hold Text button
In TV mode:
Press to select inputs from the TV
sockets (please refer to ‘Connecting Additional
Equipment’ section of this instruction manual).
In Teletext mode:
Press to hold the displayed page.
Press once again to cancel.

instruction manual for details.
Return button
Press to return to the previous channel you were
watching.
NOTE:
This can be done only after watching the
present channel for 5 seconds.
Screen Format button
Press to change the aspect ratio of the TV screen.
(Please refer to the ’Changing the screen size’ section
of this instruction manual.)
Press to switch Multi PIP mode on and off

Remote Control Joystick
Use the OK button and arrow keys to select the options
available in the menu system of this TV.
Fastext keys
The ‘Picture Menu’, ‘Sound Menu’, ‘Screen Format’
and ‘Multi PIP’ buttons can be used as Fastext buttons
when the TV is in Teletext mode. Please refer to the
‘Teletext’ section of this instruction manual for more
details.
Time button
Open the top cover of the remote control and press to
display the time on screen. Press again to cancel.
To operate additional equipment
Please refer to the ‘Remote control of other Sony
equipment’ section of this instruction manual.
Master Reset button
Open the top cover of the remote control and press to
return picture and sound settings to factory preset
levels. The TV will also start the ‘Auto Tuning’
procedure. Please refer to the ‘Automatically tuning
the TV’ section of this instruction manual.
NOTE:
It is possible to return all the picture and
sound settings to factory preset levels via the ‘Picture
Adjustment’ and ‘Audio Adjustment’ menu screen.
