7.6 Dolby
The Dolby menu enables you to set up the how the unit handles Dolby audio. The
LC2000/LC2000-IQ/LC4000/LC4000-IQ unit supports Dolby D and E decoding as well as
Dolby E transcoding when frame rate converting. Dolby E encoding from a PCM input is not
supported.
Dolby transcoding means that a change to the Dolby frame rate is enabled, but a change to
the Dolby program format is not possible. For example, if the incoming video is at 50 Hz with
5.1+2 Dolby audio, when the LC2000/LC2000-IQ/LC4000/LC4000-IQ is set to standards
convert the video to 59 Hz, the Dolby transcode function enables you to create 5.1+2 Dolby
audio at 59 Hz. The output Dolby frame rate follows the output video frame rate chosen for
the appropriate processing channel.
The Dolby E capability is determined by the number of processing channels and certain
hardware restrictions. The Dolby E option variants allowed are as follows:
For more information on the Dolby decoder and transcoder, see the

Note:
The Dolby encoder acts in tandem with the Dolby decoder: Dolby transcoding from one
frame rate to another is enabled. It is not possible to author Dolby audio from a PCM input.

Note:
Routing of the Dolby E decoded and transcoded outputs to embedded SDI is limited by
hardware. If one Dolby option is fitted, the output of this decoder/transcoder is only
available as embedded audio on SDI outputs A1 and A2, and can be routed to any AES or
analog audio encoder. See “Block Diagrams” on page 15.
