The SMCGS501P is specially designed as part of a Multi-Service Operator (MSO)
solution for an IPTV system. The Edge-Core ECS4510-12PD is a PoE PD
(powered device) switch that can operate in a cost-effective combination with
the SMCGS501P.
An SMCGS501P switch can supply 30 Watts of power to an ECS4510-12PD,
which itself can provide power to an 802.3af-compliant device, such as an IP
camera or wireless access point. When multiple SMCGS501P switches in the
same network are connected to one ECS4510-12PD device, it provides multiple
redundancy for the switch and supported PoE device.
