5. Using 2 of the smallest hex head bolts provided, attach the angle iron to the
top of the table with the name plate on the right hand side (see figure 3). Use 2
flat washers under the table before placing the nuts on the bolts.
6. Attach the lower bearing to the bottom bearing bar of Piece 2 using the 2 lon-
gest carriage bolt (see figure 4).
7. Place the shaft in the wheel head and tighten securely (see figure 4). You
may find it necessary to place the wheel head upside down on a piece of card-
board, and with a piece of wood on the end of the shaft, tap the wood gently with
a hammer until the shaft properly fits in the wheel head.
DO NOT HAMMER DIRECTLY ON THE SHAFT OR WHEEL HEAD. DO NOT
FILE OR POUND ON THE SHAFT. IT IS MACHINED TO FIT THE WHEEL HEAD
EXACTLY.
All our wheel heads have been partially drilled from the bottom for 10" bat pins.
To use these holes, you must complete the hole with a 1/4" drill bit.

Place the shaft in the lower bearing.

. Align the shaft in a vertical position and remove it from the lower bearing.
Both bearings used on the Thomas Stuart wheel are floating bearings. While the
bearing housing remains bolted securely to the wheel frame, the inner bearing
will move in any direction (float) so that both bearings will align with each other.
