injury if the tool is tipped or if the cutting tool is accidentally
contacted. Do not store materials above or near the tool so that
it is necessary to stand on the tool or its stand to reach them.

Switch off before connecting.

• Ensure the power tool is switched

off

before connecting to the

power source. If the power tool stops unexpectedly turn the
power switch to off.

Do not abuse the power cord.

• Be sure your cable/extension cable is properly wired and in

good condition. Always replace a damaged cable/extension
cable or have it repaired by a qualified person before using it.
Never yank or pull the cable to disconnect it from the power
socket. Never carry your power tool by it’s cable. Keep the
cable away from damp, heat, oil, solvents, and sharp edges.

Check for damaged or missing parts.

• Before each use check if any part of the power tool is damaged

or missing, check carefully that it will operate properly and
perform its intended function. Check alignment of moving parts
for binding. Any guard or other part that is damaged should be
correctly repaired or replaced. Do not use if the power switch
does not turn the power on and off. Check any other condition
that may affect the safety of the power tool.

FITTING ABRASIVE PAPER

• Always ensure the sander is switched off and the plug

removed from the power tool point before fitting abrasive
paper.

• Select an abrasive paper with the correct grit corresponding

to the work to be carried out. To take advantage of the
sander's high removal rate and smooth finishing, it is
essential that the abrasive paper is properly and tightly
secured. Tight paper also wears less and lasts longer.

•  Lift the sander up in one hand and with the other open the

abrasive paper roll clamp (5) by pulling on the semi-circular
recess. This retracts the front roller (6) enabling you to
remove the sandpaper roll and install a new one.

•  Fit the sandpaper roll over the front and rear rollers and

push in as far as it will go. Close the paper roll clamp (5) and
ensure the paper is taut and secure.

• Due to abrasive paper rolls stretching with use, it may be

necessary to adjust the front roller (6) to prevent the roll from
working it's way off the edge. After fitting a new sandpaper
roll, test it's position by momentarily turning the sander on
and off.

• To adjust the front roller (6) turn the roller adjustment knob

(7) by unlocking the locking collar and rotating. Turning the
knob clockwise pushes the front roller away from the sander
body. Turning the knob anti-clockwise brings the front roller
back towards the sander body.

• Further adjustment may be necessary to achieve the correct

roller position. Once satisfied with the position, secure the
adjustment knob by tightening the locking collar. The device
is then ready for use.

USING YOUR BELT SANDER

Make sure the sander cannot move or slip. Use clamps if
necessary. Make sure the trigger switch (1) is off before you
plug in the sander to a power supply. The trigger can also be
locked in the on position by fully depressing the trigger at the
same time as pressing the trigger locking button (2).To release
the trigger lock press the trigger again. Always ensure your
footing is secure and maintain a firm grip on the sander.
Switch the sander off after use and allow to stop moving
before it is put down.

FINISHING SANDING

It doesn't matter how you hold or move the sander and its
rarely necessary to put any extra pressure on the tool.
The first principle of finish sanding is to use a grade of
abrasive that will make finer scratches than those already on
the surface. To use too coarse paper will make the surface no
smoother, but instead it will roughen it more. Too fine an
abrasive may remove existing scratches very slowly if at all.
First sanding on some stock may call for a coarse grit sheet,
whereas a smoother surface would call for a medium grit
sheet. If in doubt, start with a finer grit, changing to a coarse
one only if it shows little result, but don't forget to change to
finer paper as soon as the coarse scratches appear. With
coarse paper especially, beware of over sanding edges and
veneered stock.
A favourite trick for producing a super smooth surface is to
'raise the grain'. Wet the already sanded surface with a damp
cloth or sponge and let it dry thoroughly. The water will swell
some woods fibres so that the surface looks rougher than
before. Sand with a fine paper, working down the raised
particles and the result will be a beautifully smooth surface.
However, DO NOT use this method on veneered surfaces as
the moisture may loosen the veneer.

CLEANING

Use only mild soap and a slightly damp cloth to clean the
sander. Many household cleaners contain chemicals which
could seriously damage the plastic. DO NOT use petrol,
lacquer, paint thinners or similar products. Never let any liquid
get inside of the sander and never immerse any part of the
sander into liquid.
