Troubleshooting
This section contains important information about fault identification and rectifica-
tion. Follow the instructions to avoid hazards and damage.
Fault causes and remedies
The following table will help you to identify and rectify minor malfunctions:
Fault
Possible cause
Remedy
The display
indicates nothing.
The plug is not connected.
Insert the power plug into the socket.
The mains socket is not
supplying power.
Check the house mains fuse.
The display is switched off
automatically or manually.
Press any button on the device.
No sound.
The volume is set to mini-
mum.
Increase the volume with the
−

ON/OFF
dial.
The device is in clock/
standby mode.
Press the
−
|
ON/OFF
dial
to switch on the radio mode.
Static noise in the
radio reception.
The reception is weak.
Try to improve reception by moving the
wire aerial .
Press and hold the
|
ST/MO
button for about 2 seconds to
switch the station to mono.
The time and
station presets are
lost after a power
failure.
No batteries in the battery
compartment or batteries
are dead.
Check that the batteries have sufficient
voltage and replace them if necessary.
The time and station presets will need
to be reprogrammed.
No automatic time
setting.
The RDS signal is too weak.
The time must be set manually.
