Sling Application, Loop Straps:
5
Ensuring the sling label is on the outside of the
sling and facing the right way up, glide the sling
down the back of the patient to just past base
of spine.
Glide each leg section under each thigh. Ensure
that the leg sections have not become twisted.
Feed one leg through the other to help prevent
the legs from abducting.
You can now commence the transfer.
NOTE: Once the sling takes the weight
of the patient you may need to re-adjust
the position of the sling for the patient’s
comfort.
Lower the patient back onto the chair/bed
to make any adjustments before continuing
the transfer.
Take the leg sections of the sling and place
them down each side of the patient.
Once the sling has been fitted correctly to your
patient attach the appropriate shoulder & leg
strap loops to the spreader bar on lift.
Color coding on the pick up loops are provided
for ease of reference and position. Ensure all
straps are attached securely.
