3: Server Installation
Check the Serverboard Setup
After you install the server in the rack, you will need to open the unit to make sure the serverboard
is properly installed and all the connections have been made. Before operating the server for the
first time, it is important to remove any protective film covering the top of the chassis. The
removal of this film allows for proper ventilation and cooling.
Removing the Chassis Cover
Use the following procedure for removing the chassis cover as illustrated in
Note:
Ensure that the system is not turned on or connected to AC power.
1. If the server is rack-mounted, grasp the two front handles and pull the server straight out
until it locks.
You will hear a click when it locks. To remove the system from the rack completely, depress
the locking tabs on the chassis rails (push the right-side tab down and the left-side tab up) to
continue to pull the system out past the locked position.
2. If the two optional screws are securing the cover to the chassis, remove them, one from each
side of the cover.
3. Press both release tabs at the same time to unlock the cover and slide the cover to the rear.
4. Lift the cover from the chassis.
