The Model SZE-4X Zone/Output Expander module
from Siemens Industry, Inc., is used with the SXL-EX
to provide an additional four Class B (Style B) Initiating
Device Circuits, four Form C Relays, and four Open
Collector Output Circuits. All the devices on these
circuits are user programmable. Each inititiating
device circuit can drive up to 30 conventional type
detectors and an unlimited number of shorting type
devices. The SZE-4X can also be used with the
SXL-EX-INT.

ELECTRICAL CHARACTERISTICS

Supervisory:

41mA at 24 VDC

Alarm:

510mA at 24 VDC

Each IDC

120mA at 24 VDC

Each Relay

26mA at 24 VDC

INITIATING DEVICES

Each SZE-4X IDC Zone can connect to the initiating
devices indicated below:

1.

Up to 30 smoke detectors may be used on an
SZE-4X zone. Compatible detectors are listed in
Table 1. Detectors of different models are not to
be mixed or matched on a system.

2.

The PBA-1191 Beam Detector may be used as
shown in Figure 4.

Only one

PBA-1191 Beam

Detector may be used on an SZE-4X zone and
eight total on the system.

3.

Any number of shorting type devices can be used
on a SZE-4X zone.

Refer to Figures 2, 3, and 4 for the wiring of the
