Hard disks in removable tray
The hard disks in the removable tray can be replaced during operation in connection with
RAID (hot swap).
Requirement
●
A hard disk of the same interface type
Always replace the defective hard disk with a new one of the same interface type and
capacity.
●
A key for the removable rack unit lock
Procedure
NOTICE
Damage to the hard disk and loss of data
When you remove the hard disk while data is being written to the hard disk, you may
damage the hard disk and destroy data.

Only remove the removable tray from the device when the hard disk is inactive. Inactive
means the hard disk status indicator

of the removable tray is not flashing (see figure
below).

Observe the EGB guidelines.
1.
Identify which hard disk the RAID controller has reported as being faulty (see status
indicators).
2.
Open the front panel.
3.
Open the lock

with the appropriate key.
4.
Fold out the tray bracket somewhat to the front and pull out the removable tray by the tray
bracket.
The procedure is described in the section "Removing and installing the hard disk or SSD
in the removable tray (Page 83)".
5.
Insert the removable tray with the replaced hard disk into the device and push it all the
way in.
