SIMATIC PCS 7 OSx 4.1.2 Operator

Displaying Graphics (continued)

A performance improvement has been made to the OSx software to give

better redraw performance when a command form is dismissed or another

area on the graphic is selected. However, a side-effect of this improvement is

that the graphic area around the “boundary box” may require an operator

command to refresh the symbols to restore their full appearance.

A magenta box is drawn around a graphic symbol whenever a command

form is used for data entry. When the command form is dismissed the

magenta box is removed and the original graphic area it covered is redrawn.

However, prior versions of OSx redrew the entire graphic. While a complete

redraw insured that the area was redrawn correctly for all possible cases, it

had a very high impact on performance, particularly when done on an

X terminal.

Now that OSx redraws only the region covered by the magenta box, there

are cases when the symbol is not perfectly redrawn (such as when layers

hold overlapping symbols or depending upon how the symbol has been

grouped). To redraw the entire screen, choose one of the following methods:

from the root menu. (The root menu is displayed with a

left-button mouse click on the root window. The root window is

accessible from the bottom right gray region on the OSx screen.)

Click the cursor in the graphic, and press

ALT F2

. This method is

quicker because it redraws only the customer graphic. The other OSx

screen areas are unaffected.
