Connecting the Power Supply
Figure 23:

(1=securing flange)
3
The SIMATIC NET OLM12M optical link module must be supplied with a stabilized safety
extra-low voltage complying with IEC 950/ EN 60 950/ VDE 0805, max. +32V (typ24V).
3
Secure the terminal block by screwing the securing flange.
Connecting Signaling Contact Lines
Figure 24:
Signalling Contact Relay with Floating Contacts (if a fault occurs, the contact is open)
On the top of the module, there is a floating signaling contact on the 4-wire terminal block. This
allows the following faults and errors on the network or module to be signaled, for example to a
control room.
â
No power supply voltage or internal power supply defective
(system LED not lit)
â
Break on an FO receive cable
(channel LED of the affected channel “CH 2” or “CH 3” not lit)
Limit values of the signaling contact
-maximum switching power: 30W
- maximum switching voltage: 32V DC;
- maximum switching current: 1.0 A
The voltage connected to the signaling contact must also be a safety extra-low voltage complying
with IEC 950/EN 60 950/ VDE 0805.
Figure 25:
Signaling Contact F1, F2 – Assignment of the 4-wire Terminal Block (1=securing flange)
Connections of the signaling contact on the 4-wire terminal block: Terminal F1 and F2.
Make sure that the 4-wire terminal block is connected up correctly. Make sure that the connecting
cables for the signaling contact are adequately insulated.
Connecting up this terminal block incorrectly, can destroy the optical link module.
