General safety information
The SIEMOSYN-motors 1FU8 correspond to the harmonized standards of the series EN60034.
There is conformity with 73/23/EWG Directive of low voltage for the permanent magnetic synchronous motors 1FU8.
Ensure for your final product the compliance with all existing legal regulations! Take into account the obligatory national,
local and system-based regulations!
The rotors of the motors contain permanent magnets with high magnetic flow densities and strong attraction forces to
ferromagnetical bodies.
The use within highly combustible areas is forbidden, as far as not explicitly confirmed.
Thermal hazards
The surface temperatures of the motors can reach over 100 °C.
Do not touch hot surfaces!
Temperature-sensitive components (wires, electronic components) must not touch hot surfaces. Overheating in the
motors may destroy the windings and bearings, and demagnetize the permanent magnets.
Only operate the motors with effective temperature control
(PTC-resistor with tripping unit)!
The adherence of all specifications of this operating instruction as well as the operating instructions of components (e.g.
brake, gear, integrated frequency converter…), which were installed together with the SIEMOSYN motor 1FU8 to a drive
unit, is constituent requirement of the intended use.

Specification to the product
2.1
Product description
The motors of the series 1FU8 are permanent-magnet excited, three-phase current, synchronous motors with a squirrel
cage. Depending upon the winding layout these motors can be operated as motors with constant rotational speed
directly at the mains as well as variable speed drives with frequency converters. The motors are self-cooled (with fan)
according to standard. The motors can be used as single- or also as group drives.
The 2 pole motors are executed in degree of protection IP54, the 4- and 6-pole motors in degree of protection IP 55
(degree of protection indicated on rating plate)

Scope of delivery
Check immediately after receipt of the delivery whether the scope of delivery corresponds with the consignment notes.
SIEMOSYN-motors can be supplied also as drive unit, mounted with transmissions, frequency converters Micromaster
MM411, brake…
Siemens does not take over any guarantee for subsequent complaints of defects.
Complaints are to be made about:
- detectable transport damages immediately to the supplier
- detectable defects/uncomplete delivery immediately to the relevant SIEMENS agency.
The operating instructions are constituent of the scope of delivery and thus have to be kept accessible.
CAUTION
Data which are stored on electronic data media can be destroyed.
DANGER
In the proximity of a disassembled rotor, persons with cardiac pacemakers are endangered
