General safety notes and protective measures
Safety notes
Please observe the following procedures in order to ensure the correct and safe use of the
C4000 Standard/Advanced safety light curtain in connection with the LCUR1411
interface unit.
Please observe the notes in the chapter titled “General safety notes and protective
measures” of the C4000 Standard/Advanced operating instructions.
Please observe the notes in the chapter titled “General safety notes and protective
measures” of the UE402A0010S01 switching amplifier operating instructions
The national/international rules and regulations apply to the installation, commissioning,
use and periodic technical inspections of the LCUR1411 interface unit, e.g.
–
the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EG
–
Work Equipment Directive 2009/104/EG
–
the work safety regulations/safety rules
–
BGR 500
–
Other relevant health and safety regulations
In addition, the following standards, for instance, may need to be observed for your
application:
–
EN 692: Mechanical Presses, Safety
–
EN 693: Hydraulic Presses, Safety
Manufacturers and operators of the machine on which the LCUR1411 interface unit is
used are responsible for ensuring that all applicable safety regulations and rules are
agreed with the appropriate authorities and also observed.
The notes, in particular the “Checklist for the manufacturer” (see chapter 10.2) in these
operating instructions (e.g. on use, mounting, installation or integration into the machine
controller) must be observed.
Changes to the configuration of the “LCUR1411 and C4000” unit may degrade the
protective function of the C4000. After every change to the configuration you must
therefore check the effectiveness of the protective device.
The person who makes the changes is also responsible for ensuring the protective
function of the “LCUR1411 and C4000” unit is retained. In case of any questions,
please contact the SICK service team.
The tests must be carried out by specialist personnel or specially qualified and
authorised personnel and must be recorded and documented to ensure that the tests
can be reconstructed and retraced at any time.
The operating instructions for the LCUR1411, for the C4000 and for the UE402-
A0010S01 must always be available to the operator of the machine/system on which
the C4000 light curtain is used in conjunction with the LCUR1411. The machine
operator is to be instructed in the use of the device by specialist personnel and must be
instructed to read the operating instructions.
It is only allowed to use the functions realised with the ESPE to be replaced. Any addition
of functions is not allowed.
The power supply to the C4000 must be provided via the LCUR1411 interface unit,
either using the internal power supply or using the alternative external 24 V DC power
supply (see chapter 5.3 “Connection of C4000 to the LCUR1411 interface unit”).
