Determination of path length and path angle
Exact determination of ultrasonic path length and angle to the main air flow direction (path
angle) is of utmost importance for accurate and reliable measurement result and in order
to ensure proper function of FLOWSIC60.
The values of path length and path angle have to be entered into the SPU during commis-
sioning and should be documented and filed safely.
Determine exact path length
Measure the distance between both front sensor surfaces by adequate means (refer to
Measurement should be done with a maximum uncertainty of
±
2 mm. If applicable, use
laser distance measurement tools.
Determine exact path angle
Determine the angle of the measuring path to the main air flow direction (path angle as
given in
by adequate means.
Determination should be done with a maximum uncertainty of 1°. A useful method can
be the calculation of the path angle by using trigonometric function with a right angled
triangle (
).
