MODEM INITIALIZATION
GPRS
Before starting work Jazz20 controller needs to be programmed. In order to do that, appropriate program for
modem initialization and ModbusRTU protocol handling (controller) should be uploaded using U90Ladder
program. The example of ModemModbusSlave.U90 or ModemModbusMaster. U90 program can be
downloaded from our website: http://www.shemeck.pl/modemVoltan. Those programs differs from each
other the way how the modem is initialized. (Controller tab -> PLC Modem Configuration) and with the code
of the PLC program. The name of the APN server and port number where communication with the Jazz20
controller will be possible should be setup in the given tab.
GSM
Before starting work Jazz20 controller needs to be programmed. In order to do that, appropriate program for
modem initialization should be uploaded using U90Ladder program. The example of ModemGSM.U90.
program should be downloaded from our website: http://www.shemeck.pl/modemVoltan. In the Controller
-> Modem Service -> GSM tab program has modem type setup as Enfora (the transmission speed should not
be changed into other than 9600). If SIM card has got PIN number it should be provided in the appropriate
field. Then in the Controller - > SMS Configuration tab “Use GSM Modem” option should be checked in order
to initialize modem every time the controller starts. Additionally PLC controller program should consist of
proper code to service text messages.

After the installation with PLC controller Modem Voltan writes the following data to specific memory cells of
the Jazz20 PLC controller:
