RECORDING FROM A MICROPHONE

[Operate with the multi link station or the remote control.]
( ) indicates remote control operations.
1. Connect a plug-in microphone to the MIC IN jack on
the main unit.
2. Insert a recordable MiniDisc.
3. To operate with the multi link station, place the main
unit on the multi link station. (To use the remote control,
connect it to the main unit.)
4. Press the REC button.
5. Select an appropriate recording mode (page 125).
6. Press the MENU button.
7. Select "MIC LEVEL" ("MICLevel") by pressing the
or
button, and then press the ENTER (
) button.
8. Select "ALC-H", "ALC-L" or "MANUAL" by pressing the
or
button, and then press the ENTER (
)
button.
For auto recording level adjustment, select "ALC-H" or
"ALC-L" so the level fluctuates between –4 dB and 0 dB.
For manual recording level adjustment, select
"MANUAL" and press the
or
button to ad-
just the recording level.
Adjust it so the level meter fluctuates between –4 dB
and 0 dB at the maximum level.
9. Press the
button to start recording.
To interrupt recording:
Press the
button while recording.
The track number increases by one.
To resume recording, press the
button again.
To stop recording:
Press the
button while recording.
TOC information is recorded.
Synchronous recording

7. Select "SYNC REC" by pressing the

8. Select "MIC SYNC H" or "MIC SYNC L" by pressing

MIC SYNC H (High):
Recording starts when the unit detects –24dB or
higher.
MIC SYNC L (Low):
Recording starts when the unit detects –12dB or
higher.
9. Recording starts when the unit detects sounds from the
connected microphone.
Note:
If the silence lasts for 3 seconds or more, the unit enters
the recording pause mode.
When the unit detects sounds again, a new track number
will be created and recording will start.
To cancel synchronous recording:
Press the
button while recording.
To perform synchronous recording in the last setting:
Press the REC button to enter the recording pause
mode and then press it again for 2 seconds or more.
