2.3.3 Initial testing of the leak detector by a recognized inspection body
The operational tests cited in “Principles of Approval Procedures for Leak Detector Devices
for Double Walled Pipes” (ZG-LAGR of August 1994) are to be carried out within the
framework of the initial test. If the basic test certificates have been issued for the national
technical approval on the basis of samples taken from the running production, these tests
shall replace the initial test.
3 Design
specifications
3.1
(1) It must be ensured at all times that the leak detector is sufficiently resistant tothe liquid
to be stored and that no water-contaminating liquid reacts with the leak detection medium.
(2) Models DLR-G, DLR-GS and DLR-P of the leak detector may be used on pipes to
convey water-polluting liquids according to specifications in the Technical Description of the
respective leak detector model. The use on pipes with or without permeation to convey
water-polluting liquids with a flash point of
≤
55°C may be effected for the operating
methods inert gas or air with secured refill or without secured refill as they are listed in the
Technical Description. Thereby taking into consideration the requirements placed according
to Appendix B of DIN EN 13160-1 with regard to the device categories according to EN
1127-1.
Secured refill according to Appendix B of DIN EN 13 160-1 with the leak detection medium
(monitoring medium) air or inert gas is considered to be fulfilled if
•
the leak detector has an integrated pump,
•
the leak detector is connected to a continuously operated pressure air or pressure gas
network appropriate for the operation of the leak detector,
•
residual pressure monitoring of the pressure tank with alarm indication is installed in
case of operation with a continuously connected pressure tank (operating method S
with stationery pressure air bottle).
Leak detector models operated without continuously connected pressure air or pressure
gas supply (e.g. operating method M with mobile pressure air bottle) are considered to be
models without secured refill.
3.2
The required interstitial pressures for DLR-G and DLR-GS type leak detectors are adjusted
by the manufacturer in compliance with the permissible operating overpressure values and
the expected temperature variations in double walled pipes. If required, the specialist
company may adjust the switch values retrospectively (on the construction site) in
agreement with the manufacturer. The interstitial pressures of the DLR-P model have been
adjusted by the manufacturer and shall remain unchanged.
3.3
The “alarm ON” switch value must be at least 1 bar higher than the maximum operating
overpressure of the delivering pipe.
4 Installation
specifications
4.1
(1) The DLR-G type leak detector must be installed in accordance with section 4 of the
technical description
and must be put into operation in accordance with sections 5 and 6
thereof.
(2) The DLR-P type leak detector must be installed in accordance with section 4 of the
technical description
and must be put into operation in accordance with section 5 thereof.
(3) The DLR-GS type leak detector must be installed in accordance with section 4 of the
technical description
and must be put into operation in accordance with section 5 thereof.
