5 Mounting the Print Server
The print server allows printers and plotters to be connected to the network via the USB
interface. It is also possible to connect a hub to the USB2 port of the print server and
use it with up to four additional printers at the hub.
The print server can be used with a security lock, e.g. a Kensington lock. Just introduce
the security lock into the foreseen slot.
1. Connect the print server to the printer
•
Turn the printer off.
•
Disconnect the printer's power cord.
•
Remove the data cable connecting the printer to the computer.
•
Connect the USB cable to the print server and the printer.
2. Connect the print server to the network
•
Connect the network cable to the print server.
•
Connect the power pack's power cord to the print server.
•
Connect the printer's power cord to the printer.
•
Turn the printer on.
•
Press the status button in order to print out a status page.
A status page can only be printed if the printer supports ASCII, PostScript, or the
DATAMAX format (label printer).
3. Attach the print server to the printer
You can attach the print server to the printer using the enclosed hook and loop
fasteners.
•
Put both halves of the hook and loop fastener together.
•
Stick the hook and loop fasteners to the cavities at the bottom of the print server.
•
Peel off the remaining protective film and attach the print server firmly to the
printer. Make sure not to cover any ventilation slots or controls of the printer.
