WARNING!  Before use, ensure you read, understand and apply safety

instructions in Section 1.

Note: These instructions are of a general nature only. Always follow the specific

instructions in the vehicle manufacturer ’s, or a proprietary, manual.

4.1. Vacuum gun

4.1.1. When using gun with outlet port ( fig.1.2) unconnected, protect it with vented cap (fig.1.B)

to prevent ingress of dirt.

4.1.2. At any time during use of the gun the vacuum generated may be released by pulling

trigger (fig.1.3).

4.2. Bleeding

WARNING! Familiarise yourself with the hazards of brake fluid - read manufacturer’s

instructions on container.

4.2.1. Fit appropriately sized adaptor (G) to the bleed nipple of the wheel brake (or clutch

actuating) cylinder.

4.2.2. Connect the adaptor to the vacuum port (fig.1.1) of the gun using tubing provided.
4.2.3. Connect outlet port (fig.1.2) of the gun to top of fluid container (port marked ‘Pump’)

with second length of tubing provided.

4.2.4. Ensure master cylinder reservoir level is above minimum and then unscrew bleed nipple

approx. 1/4 turn.

4.2.5. Operate vacuum gun to draw brake fluid through system and into fluid container.

DO NOT allow level in reservoir to fall below minimum. Check frequently and

refill as necessary with new fluid.

4.2.6. Continue until fluid entering container is clean and bubble-free. Retighten bleed nipple

and then remove adaptor.

4.2.7. After bleeding brakes

always

check that brake pedal feels firm and that brakes operate

normally,

before

going onto public roads.

4.3. General applications

Because the gun creates a partial vacuum it can be use to:
a) test the operation and calibration of any item which responds to a vacuum during normal operation e.g. ignition vacuum advance/retard mechanism.
b) check systems (fuel, air con., heating, brake servo etc.) for leakage.
c) test 2-stroke engines for crankcase seal leaks.
d) test pressure switches etc. if the vacuum pump can be connected to the ‘atmospheric’ side of the component.
