7.  MAINTENANCE

7.3.1. 

H

ave your cordless chainsaw serviced by a qualified repair person using only genuine replacement parts. This will ensure that the 

safety of the cordless chainsaw is maintained.

7.3.2. 

After each use tighten all nuts and screws except adjustment screws.

7.3.3. 

Keep the saw chain sharp.

 attempt any maintenance or repairs that are not included in this manual.

 Ensure that the cordless chainsaw is switched off and that the battery is removed prior to an inspection or performing 

any maintenance.

 Wear gloves, not cloth gloves, during an inspection or any maintenance. 

7.1. 

LUBRICATION

NOTE:

 The saw chain is automatically lubricated during the cutting operation.

7.1.1. 

T

o fill or top up the oil reservoir, lay the chainsaw body onto it’s side, lift up the lever on the reservoir cap and turn counter 

clockwise and fully remove the cap (fig 19).

7.1.2. 

F

ill the reservoir up to the bottom lip of the filler neck (fig 20).

NOTE:

 Max. volume of oil = 160ml. Use a good quality chain oil.

7.1.3.

eplace and fully tighten reservoir cap.

DO NOT

 allow the oil reservoir to run dry. 

7.1.4.

eriodically check levels through reservoir window (fig 20).

7.1.5. 

After refilling run the chain saw until the saw chain is fully lubricated.

se only correct oil for application. Contact your Sealey stockist for advice.

Use only clean oil that is free from sawdust etc.

When pruning trees use botanical oil. Mineral oil can be harmful to trees.

7.2. 

SHARPENING THE SAW CHAIN

7.2.1. 

T

he saw chain will require sharpening when:

a) Mostly sawdust is produced when damp wood is cut.

b) The saw chain has difficulty penetrating the wood, even when extra cutting pressure is applied.

c) The cutting edge is visibly damaged.

d) The chainsaw pulls to the left or right when trying to cut through the wood. This is caused by uneven sharpening of the saw chain 

or damage to one side of the saw chain.

THE SHARPENING OF THE SAW CHAIN REQUIRES THE USE OF SPECIALIST TOOLS, IT IS THEREFORE RECOMMENDED 

THAT THIS OPERATION IS UNDERTAKEN BY AN AUTHORISED SEALEY SERVICE CENTRE.

7.3. 

CLEANING THE CHAINSAW BODY

7.3.1. 

Clean with a soft clean cloth.

: use solvents to clean the chainsaw.

7.4. 

CLEANING THE GUIDE BAR

7.4.1.

hips and sawdust, during use, will build up in the guide bar groove. This could clog the groove in the guide bar and impair the oil 

flow onto the saw chain.

7.4.2. 

C

lean out these chips and sawdust every time the saw chain is removed, replaced or sharpened, with a slotted screwdriver or stiff 

brush (fig 21).

7.5. 

CLEANING THE SPROCKET COVER

7.5.1.

uring use, chips and sawdust will accumulate inside the sprocket cover.

7.5.2.

emove the sprocket cover, guide bar and saw chain. See section 4.1.

7.5.3.

emove any sawdust or chips with a soft brush, and dispose responsibly (fig 22).

7.5.4.

einstall the sprocket cover, guide bar and saw chain. See section 4.2.8.
