2. INTRODUCTION & SPECIFICATION

The Electonic Vernier Caliper, which provides Outside, Inside, Depth and Step measurements, is used in the same manner as a normal

caliper but provides an immediate digital measurement read-out. This avoids the errors inherent in reading a conventional vernier scale and

also speeds up the measuring process.

DO NOT use the caliper if damaged.

DO NOT use the caliper for any purpose other than for which it is designed.

DO NOT get caliper wet or use in damp or wet locations, or areas where there is condensation.

DO NOT dip or submerge the caliper in any type of liquid.

DO NOT expose caliper to bright sunlight or dust.

DO NOT dis-assemble caliper. The caliper must be checked by qualified service personnel only.

DO NOT apply any voltage to the caliper i.e. with an electric marker pen.

The caliper is a precision instrument, treat with care, avoid using force and do not subject to knocks or shocks.

Take particular care not to damage or scratch the scale surface.

Use caliper in reasonably constant temperature conditions of approximately 20

When not in use, store caliper in a safe, dry, childproof location.

Before first use wipe caliper with a soft cloth to remove the protective film of oil (fig.1) and insert battery - see Section 4.

Turn on caliper by pressing ON/OFF switch and allow at least one second before use.

Loosen clamp screw and close caliper; if read-out does not show zero 

when in closed position

, reset by 

pressing ORIGIN switch.

Select ‘mm’ or ‘inch’, as required, with the mm/inch selector switch. Check that display shows the required units.

Measurements will now be shown directly on the LCD display.

Error Messages a) Display ‘B’ -  battery exhausted - replace. See Section 4.

b) Display ‘E--05’ - either scale surface is contaminated - wipe with a clean, soft cloth or 

caliper slide has been moved too quickly - move more slowly. Press 

ZERO/ABS switch to reset and clear error message.

A new ‘zero’ may be obtained, at any open position of the caliper, by pressing the ZERO/ABS switch. ‘INC’ 

(incremental)  will appear in the display. Subsequent pressing of the switch for approx. two seconds will revert to 

measurement from the caliper closed position (absolute) and the ‘INC’ display will cancel.

Occasionally apply a smear of low viscosity oil to the scale surface to prevent corrosion.
