3.5.
Should the Jack become overloaded, a safety excess pressure valve will open, and stop the vehicle from lifting.
3.6.
Weight Distribution
Up to 80% of the lifted load is carried by the front Jack wheels placing exceptional stress on the point of contact with
the supporting floor. To give added support, boards may be placed beneath the Jack wheels.
3.7.
Lowering the load
The handle is spring loaded and will automatically position itself for lowering. The lowering speed is controlled by the amount
your turn the handle. Lower carefully, avoiding sudden release. Ensure there are no persons or obstacles beneath
the vehicle, or in the path of its descent.
IMPORTANT SAFETY REMINDERS. Before lifting ensure:
a)
Vehicle is clear of passengers. Transmission is in gear (or "Park" for automatic transmission) and handbrake engaged.
b)
Vehicle must be positioned on a
HARD LEVEL SURFACE
, with wheels securely chocked to prevent it from moving.
The Jack wheels however, must be free and able to move during lifting.
c)
ALWAYS USE AXLE STANDS
when vehicle is elevated.
d)
Consult your vehicle handbook to confirm position to place the Jack saddle.
e)
If other items are coupled to the load to be lifted i.e. trailers, farm equipment etc., remove the coupled items and place
in a safe location.
Note:
Only fully qualified personnel should attempt maintenance or repair.
4.1.
When the Jack is not in use, the ram and the handle socket should be in their lowest position.
Remove the handle to inactivate Jack.
4.2.
Keep the Jack clean and lubricate all moving parts with acid free oil on a regular basis.
4.3.
To check the oil level, fully lower the Jack. Remove filler plug. The correct oil level should be approximately 10mm below
the filler opening. If oil level is low, fill as required.
Note: Use a good quality Jack oil, such as SEALEY HYDRAULIC OIL.
WARNING:
DO NOT use brake fluid, or any fluid other than hydraulic fluid as this may cause serious damage to the Jack
and will invalidate the warranty!
4.4.
Every three months remove the locking rings on the caster wheels and lubricate the ball bearings with acid free grease.
4.5.
After a year of extensive use, the oil should be replaced in order to extend the life of your equipment.
To drain the oil, remove the filler cap and valve. Make sure that no dirt is allowed to enter the hydraulic systems oil.
4.6.
Periodically check the pump piston and piston rod for signs of corrosion. Clean exposed areas with a clean oiled cloth.
De-commissioning the Jack
Should the Jack become completely unserviceable and require disposal, draw off the oil into an approved container and dispose of the Jack
and the oil according to local regulations.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
THE PROBLEM
THE CAUSE
THE SOLUTION
Jack will not lift high
enough.
1. Check the oil level, see 4.3. above.
1. After several years of use, the packings may be worn, in this case replace with an original repair kit.
2. The load is too heavy for the Jack.
1.Possible insufficient oil level.
2.Safety overload valve activated.
