Summary
1. Name your sensor
2. Select port #, baud 9600 or 4800, Data bits 8, Stop bits 1, Parity none
3. Define prefix and suffix- prefix and suffix examples are below, as well as your desired Sonar-
mite output string
4. Change receive mode to “Unsolicited”
5. Be sure to select “ALL” for point, line/area feature, and Not in feature.
6. Change data destination to “As Attribute”
7. Name attribute (this named attribute is where your soundings are stored in each row for
each set of data)
Concerning the prefix and suffix, you will need to change the Sonarmite output format to the
NMEA
format ($).
Format 2 DBT NMEA mode
(e.g. $SMDBT,5.94,f,1.81,M,,*67)
$SMDBT,1.6,f,0.48,M,,*5C
f, is your prefix
,M is your suffix
This will parse the metric depth out of the Sonarmite NMEA string.
