Approval Requirements
Approval Requirements
The approval of SPOT is invalidated if used with external control software
or external control apparatus which causes the operation of the
modem/fax/answering machine or associated call set up to contravene
the required BABT regulatory requirements.
– It is the SPOT and not the host PC which is approved.
– This document forms part of the approval.
– The approval label must not be removed from the SPOT.

The maximum power taken from the power supply unit is +5Vdc. at
500mA.
Safety requirements
Safety requirements
The modem must only be installed as detailed in this manual. Other
usage will
invalidate any approval given to this apparatus if as a result it
ceases to comply with EN60950 & EN41003.
Interconnection directly, or by way of other apparatus of ports marked
"SAFETY WARNING; See instructions for use", with ports marked or not
so marked may produce hazardous conditions on the network and advice
should be obtained from a competent engineer before such a connection
is made.
Suitability for use

SPOT is suitable for

1. Connection to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN)
provided by British Telecom, Hull City Council, Mercury
Communications Limited and cable companies.
2. Household, office and similar indoor use when connected to direct
exchange lines employing loop disconnect signaling or MF tone
dialling.
SPOT is not suitable for
SPOT is not suitable for::
1. Extensions to a pay phone.
2. Use on shared services or as part of a 1+1 carrier system.
The output power level of the modem is preset and cannot be altered by
the user.
