Adjusting the base for angle cutting:
To adjust the cutting angle, loosen the base bolts with the Allen tool (see figure 4), push the base forward, adjust
the cutting angle according to the scale on the base. The 0°, 15°, 30° and 45° angles are indicated, intermediate
values can be selected.
Adjusting the excursion:
The adjustable blade excursion (item 9 - figure 1), which ranges from “1”, for hard
materials, up to “3”, for soft materials, when combined with the adequate speed (picture 6), enhances the power
tool’s performance, resulting in a better work and longer life span.
Dust removal:
If necessary, connect the vacuum cleaner’s flexible tube to the
saw’s vacuuming opening, use the supplied adapter (item 5 - picture 1). Push the
adapter into the fitting guide in the opening (item 6 - figure 1)and lock by rotating
it to the left as shown in the picture beside.
Cutting:
Let the blade work freely before starting the cut. Do not apply excessive force on the tool when cutting,
it prevents the tool from overheating and the blade from wearing out.
Incision cutting:
When it’s necessary to make a cut in the middle of the workpiece
and drilling is not available, set the excursion adjustment (item 9 - picture 1) to
“0”, loosen the base and push it all the way to the back and tighten, tilt the tool
as shown beside, and, with the tool operating, let it slide on the material carefully.
After cutting through the workpiece, continue the work with the tool in the regular
position.
Advices for better use of your SCHULZ tool
Cutting laminated wood:
When cutting laminated wood, the material might shatter into pieces that may
damage the surface of the material. The most common blades cut in the upward movement, therefore, if the tool
base is on the surface of the material, use a blade that cuts in the downward movement or:
- Use a fine tooth blade.
- Cut from the lower surface of the workpiece.
- Place a piece of wood or hard cardboard on either sides of the workpiece to reduce the shattering.
Cutting metals: It takes much longer to perform a cutting operation on metals than on wood or other soft material.
- Always use an appropriate blade for metals.
- When cutting thin sheets of metal, place a piece of wood underneath the workpiece. Smear a fine layer of oil
along the cut line.
The incision cutting process can only be done in soft materials.
