Install the Treadle Aid (8-Shaft and 4Now/4Later
Looms only).
Parts: 2 – #8 x 1-1/4" screws, 1 – 1/4" dowel, 10 – treadle
aid cords.
Attach the treadle aid bar to the rear castle cross brace
with a 1-1/4" screw at each end. To set up the treadle aid,
start at one end of the treadle aid bar and push a treadle
aid cord up through one of the holes (an opened paper clip
can be most helpful with this step) and then over the 1/4"
dowel. Continue across the entire treadle aid bar. You will
attach the treadle aid cords to the ends of the treadles in
the same manner as you will attach the tie-up cords that
control the lamms (instruction 26). We recommend using a
treadle aid cord on all of the treadles.
16.
Install the warp beam.
Parts: Warp beam, 2 – 3/8" USS washers.
Take the warp beam and place a 3/8" USS washer on each
end. Slip the threaded rod through the hole in the inside
right leg as far as it will go. Fit the pin in the other end into
the stopped hole in the inside leg - this hole does not go all
the way through the leg. You will have to spread the right
and left inside legs apart to accomplish this.
14.
Insert the shafts into the castle.
Parts:
For 4-shaft looms: 4 small hex nuts, 4 small O-rings.
For 8-shaft looms: 8 small hex nuts, 8 small O-rings.
Slide a harness frame into the front channel in the castle
sides. Insert the jack pin into the hole in the center of the
bottom of the frame. Secure the jack pin with a hex nut,
then push a small O-ring on top of each hex nut. As you
insert the rest of the harnesses, keep them oriented so that
the heddle bar hooks are lined up.
