Electric supply for MT520 (information only): 

The Sandvik Tunneling Roadheader MT520 needs to be electrically connected to a transformer via a 
trailing cable. The maximum permissible length and the minimum cross section of the trailing cable 
depend on the specific conditions on the jobsite.  

In order to reduce the starting current of the hydraulic pump motor, an optional soft-start mechanism 
(tyristor ) can be provided (see option “Soft-Start”). 

 

Standard parameters for trailing cable in length and cross section refer to table below.  

In case of les then 30°C ambient temperature a minimum cross section of 120 mm² of the trailing cable is 
recommended. 

In case of more than 30°C ambient temperature a trailing cable with a minimum cross section of 150 mm² 
is recommended.
