The Model 40 Digital Message Player has

two outputs:

• A 600 ohm RCA jack output which is normally connected to a MOH input on a phone system or a PA amplifier

• An 8 ohm RCA jack output that will drive a small 8 ohm speaker or horn directly (convenient for in-store announcements in
a small sore that doesn’t need a separate PA amplifier). A volume control is included on the back panel.

There is a Speaker Switch on the front panel that lets you easily monitor what’s being played. Leave the Switch in the OFF
position for normal operation.

The Model 40 Digital Message Player comes with an RCA to RCA Audio Cord, an RCA to 3.5mm Audio Adapter, a 3.5mm
cord for the Trigger (in case you need it), a Power Cube, Mounting Screws for wall mounting and Feet to put it on a shelf.

Installation:

•  Using the supplied audio cable connect the 600 ohm audio output on the digital player to the music on hold jack located
on the phone system. You may have to cut-off the end of the cable and beanie it to jumper wire to punch it down.

•  Connect the AC wall transformer to the power jack on the digital player and plug the transformer into the wall outlet.

•  Insert MOH Drive into the front of the

Model 40 Digital Message Player

.

•  The audio will start playing in about 5 to 10 seconds. The audio may be previewed by turning the speaker on. Always
turn speaker off for normal use.

•  Use the volume control on the rear panel to adjust the volume to the desired level.

Triggering Audio with a Dry Closure:

•

Strip the end of the included single ended 3.5mm cable. To

stop

the audio from playing short the sleeve and ring (the

audio will stop right away). To play the audio file from the beginning

remove the short

and the audio will play right away.

Recording a New Message:

•

Remove the MOH DRIVE from the

Model 40 Digital Message Player

. Insert the MOH DRIVE into the USB port of any

computer that contains the new message or messages to be transferred. A USB extension cable is included if needed.

•  Wait approximately 30 seconds for the computer to recognize the MOH Drive.

•   Double click on My Computer and double click on the MOH DRIVE to display its contents. If “MOH Drive” is not in the list,
remove the USB Thumb Drive, wait 5 seconds, and re-insert the drive.

•  Delete any unwanted messages on the MOH DRIVE. The only files that are played are those in the root of the drive. No
files in sub-directories are accessed by the

Model 40 Digital Message Player

. If there is more than one mp3 audio file in

the root of the MOH DRIVE the

 Model 40 Digital Message Player

will play the files in filename alphanumeric order.

•  Drag and drop or copy and paste any new message file to the MOH DRIVE.

•  Take the USB FLASH DRIVE back to the

Model 40 Digital Message Player

and insert the drive into the player. The

new message will start playing in about 5 to 10 seconds.

NOTE:

If you want to store audio files on the USB Drive, but not have them play, simply create a folder called UNUSED

MESSAGES (or what ever name you like) on the USB Drive and save the audio files to that folder. The audio files will be on
the drive but will not play. When you want an unused file to play simply drag the audio file out of the folder to the root of the
USB drive and the

Model 40 Digital Message Player

 will play it.
