See if the audio cables are connected properly to the sound output
port and the CD-IN port of the sound card.

sound card, or double-click the media player icon provided by the
Windows OS.
You can listen to the sound by plugging in your earphone or
headphone to the earphone outlet.
You cannot hear anything through the earphone in digital mode if
you set CD Audio playback to digital playback in Windows Media
Player in Windows 98/Me/2000/Xp.
