Entering Symbols and Smileys
Most symbols and punctuation marks appear as alternate
characters above the primary letters and numbers on the
QWERTY keyboard. To enter a symbol, press
and then
press the appropriate key. To enter a series of symbols, press
, press the appropriate keys, then press
again.
Emoticons (Smileys) are accessed by pressing
and
selecting an image from the Emoticons page that is then inserted
at your current cursor position.
To enter symbols:
1.
Position the cursor where you want the symbol to appear
within your message.
2.
Press
and then press the key corresponding to the
symbol you want to insert.

For example, to enter “

,” you could use the keyboard
sequences shown below.

To enter “smileys” (emoticons):
1.
Position the cursor where you want the emoticon to appear
within your message.

Press

to open the onscreen Emoticons
page.
3.
Scroll through the list and select a smiley by touching the
onscreen icon.
Left/Messaging
: Press to move left. Press
Alt
and
this key to launch the Messaging screen (by
default). It can also be configured to launch other
messaging applications.
Down/Search
: Press to move down. Press
Alt
and this key to display the Quick Search box that
can be used to search for a key term both on the
phone or online.
Right/Emoticons
: Press to move right. Press
Alt
and this key to launch the Emotions page. Scroll
down and tap an entry from the extensive list of
emotions.
Delete
: Deletes the previous character, similar to
the backspace key on a computer keyboard.
