Using T9 Mode
T9 mode allows you to enter words with only one keystroke
per letter. Each key on the keypad has more than one letter;
for example, pressing the
5
key can enter J, K, or L.
However, T9 mode automatically compares the series of
keystrokes you make with an internal linguistic dictionary to
determine the most likely word, thus requiring far fewer
keystrokes than the traditional Alphabet mode.
Entering a Word in T9 Mode
1. When you are in T9 mode, start entering a word by
pressing the
2
to
9
keys. Press each key only once for
each letter.
Example: To enter “Hello” in T9 mode, press the
4
,
3
,
5
,
5
, and
6
keys.
The word you are typing appears on the display. It may
change with each key that you press.
2. Enter the whole word before editing or deleting
keystrokes.
3. When the word displays correctly, go to step 4.
If the word doesn’t display correctly, press the
0
key or
the Up or Down key to display alternative word choices
for the keys that you have pressed.
Example: Both “Of ” and “Me” use the
6
and
3
keys.
The phone displays the most commonly used choice
first.
4. Insert a space by pressing the key and start entering
the next word.
