Backed: Lap/Shoulder Belt Use

Shoulder Belt Position
The shoulder belt should lay snugly
across the center of the child’s
shoulder and across the chest and
not on their face or neck.
Lap Belt Position
The lap belt should lay snugly
across the child’s hips and not on
their stomach.
Head Position
Tops of the child’s ears should never
be above the top of the headrest.
Tops of child’s ears below the top of
your vehicle’s seat back or vehicle’s
headrest.
Adjust headrest if needed, see
page 13.
Place Booster Seat Forward-
Facing in Back Seat
Vehicle seat back must be upright.
The back of the booster seat should
be flat against the vehicle seat back.
To install the backrest/headrest, see page 11.
The headrest and backrest must always be used together.
NOTE: If your vehicle seat has
a headrest that interferes with
achieving a fl ush car seat fi t,
check your vehicle owner’s manual
to see if it can be removed, adjusted,
or if there are other possible seating
locations.
Have Child Sit in Booster Seat
Child should sit with their back flat
against the vehicle seat and their
bottom flat against the seat base.
Position Lap Belt on Child
Route lap portion of the lap/shoulder
belt under both armrests.
The shoulder belt should go under
the armrest on the vehicle buckle
side only.
The lap belt should lay snugly across
the child’s upper thighs and not on
the stomach.
