2.0 Safety
Safetech has provided the following Important Safety Reminders specifically for users.
Following these under the heading of Safety Update Information is further specific information
compiled through our ongoing commitment to improving the management of safe operating
procedures which are also applicable for the installers of Safetech Dock shelters.
Important Safety Reminders:
1.
Improper operation of this dock shelter may result in serious personal injury. Do not
operate unless you have been properly trained and have read, and understand both the
safety & operating instructions.
2.
Do not operate the dock shelter unless you have been properly trained and have read,
and understand the safety and operating instructions.
3.
Ensure that the control device is positioned so that the operator has a clear view of the
dock shelter when operating the controls.
4.
Ensure personnel are clear of the dock shelter when the dock shelter is operating.
5.
DO NOT use a damaged or malfunctioning dock shelter.
6.
Check that there are no entrapment risks or obstructions with machinery, equipment or
fixed objects adjacent to, under or over the dock shelter.
7.
Maintenance and service on this dock shelter must only be carried out by a person who
has been trained & accredited by Safetech. Please contact Safetech for service work or
training.
8.
Maintenance and service on the dock shelter must be done at regular intervals to
ensure trouble free and safe operation. For high cycle or heavy load environments,
service should be done every three (3) months. For medium or low cycle environments,
service should be done every six (6) months.
9.
DO NOT modify, dismantle or dispose of the dock shelter unless you have been trained
and authorised to do so.

Potential Shear / Crush Injury Zones:
2.1.1
Maintenance/Repair - Potential Injuries
•
Inadvertent operation during ANY maintenance or repair activity on a dock shelter could
cause injury.
•
To prevent this from occurring, the person performing any maintenance/repair activity is
to lock out/ tag out until the activity is completed
2.1.2
Dock Shelter Operation - Pre-operation Check
To prevent the possibility of any injury occurring during any phase of operation of installation on the
dock shelter - the Operator is to ensure BEFORE any operation commences that no person has
any part of their body within any potential injury zone and to maintain extreme vigilance during
operation to ensure no person places any part of their body in these zones.
