TROUBLESHOOTING
Read this BEFORE you call for service.
The Safe-T-element® device is a carefully engineered product. Many times
what may appear to be a reason to call for service is, under certain
conditions, a normal operating characteristic of the device.
TROUBLE
PROBABLE CAUSE
REMEDY
Entire stove does
not operate
Blown fuse/tripped
circuit breaker.
Replace fuse/reset circuit
breaker.
Entire stove does
not operate
Loose/corroded circuit
connection.
Clean and tighten
connections.
Entire stove does
not operate
Cord/plug not attached
to wall outlet.
Make sure cord/plug is
plugged tightly into outlet.
Entire stove does
not operate
Power Outage.
Check house lights to be
sure.
Safe-T-element®
plates do not heat
Control knob set too
low.
Turn knob slightly higher
until it starts heating.
Safe-T-element®
plates do not heat
Safe-T-element®
thermocouple
disconnected.
Remove plate and ensure
thermocouple (white
connector) is connected to
the brown wire. **
Safe-T-element®
plates do not heat
Incorrect element knob
is turned on.
Ensure the correct
element knob is turned on.
Safe-T-element®
plates do not heat
Safe-T-element® plate
not seated properly.
Straighten terminals on
end of coil element. **
Safe-T-element®
plate too hot
Incorrect temperature
setting on the control
knob.
Lower temperature setting
until proper amount of
heat is obtained.
Safe-T-element®
plate too hot
Safe-T-element®
thermocouple wire is
connected to the wrong
white connector.
Ensure thermocouple wire
is connected to the right
white connector. (Refer to
Figure 2)

Ensure knob is set to OFF and the Safe-T-element® plates are completely
cool.
