Action
The machine grinds the
coffee beans, but coffee
does not come out.
Water empty.
Fill the water tank and prime the circuit again as

The brew group is dirty.
Clean the brew group as described in the

Weekly brew group cleaning cycle”
chapter.
The circuit is not primed.
Prime the circuit as described in the
“5.2.1 Water
circuit priming”
chapter.
The coffee dispensing spout is dirty. Clean the coffee dispensing spout and its holes using
a toothpick.
The machine must perform the self-
adjustment.
Brew a few cups of coffee.
Coffee comes out slowly.
Coffee is ground too finely.
Change coffee blend or adjust the grinding as
described in the
“5.3.3 Ceramic coffee grinder
adjustment”
chapter.
The circuit is not primed.
Prime the circuit as described in the
“5.2.1 Water
circuit priming”
chapter.
The brew group is dirty.
Clean the brew group as described in the
“7.2.1
Weekly brew group cleaning cycle”

The machine must perform the self-
adjustment.
Brew a few cups of coffee.
The frothed milk is too cold. Cups are cold.
Warm the cups with hot water.
Milk does not froth.
The milk frother is dirty or incorrectly
placed.
Clean the milk frother as described in the

Weekly cleaning of the milk frother components”
and
insert it in the machine as shown in the
“6.2 Milk
frother”
chapter,
“Inserting phase”
.
The type of milk used is not suitable
for frothing.
Read the
“6.3 Milk- and coffee-based preparations”
chapter.
The filter cannot be
activated as the OK signal
(V) is not displayed.
A filter has just been activated.
You have to dispense at least 10 cups (100 ml x cup)
before activating a new filter. Be careful as if you
activate a new filter, the filter counter will increase
automatically.
The filter cannot be
activated and the machine
asks for descaling.
The series of 8 filter is completed.
Descale your machine first as described in the
“7.5
Descaling cycle”
chapter. Thereafter the filter can
be installed as described in the
“10.2.1 AquaClean
installation”
chapter.
The filter has not been replaced on
time after the AquaClean water filter
signal started blinking.
The filter has not been installed right
away upon 1st usage but after having
brewed approx.100 product (based
on 100ml cups).
The filter does not fit.
You need to remove air from the
filter.
Let air bubbles come out of the filter and empty the
water tank before installing the filter as described in
the
“10.2.1 AquaClean installation”
chapter.
There is water in the water tank.

10.1 Maintenance products
To clean and descale the machine use exclusively Saeco maintenance products.
These products can be purchased in the Philips online shop (if available in your
country) at www.shop.philips.com/service, from your local reseller or from the
authorised service centres.
Should it prove difficult to find the machine maintenance products, please contact the
nearest Philips Saeco hotline in your country. Contacts are included in the warranty
booklet supplied separately or can be found at www.saeco.com/support.
