mower while the engine is running.
18. Mow across the face of a slope, never up or down. Use
extreme caution when changing direction on a slope.
Do not mow on excessively steep slopes.
19. Never mow by pulling the mower towards you. You
could slip and pull the mower on top of your feet.
20. Walk with the mower, never run.
21. The safety distance determined by the guiding handles
must be maintained at all times.
22. At the conclusion of mowing, always turn the mower off
using the throttle lever.
23. If you strike or become entangled with a foreign object,
stop the engine immediately and check the damage.
24. Unreasonable rough operation will shorten the life
of the machine, and also it will create an unsafe
environment for yourself and those around you.
BEFORE MOWING
1. Be sure to dress correctly. Wear hard shoes, not
sandals or tennis shoes.
2. Examine the blade. A blade that is bent, cracked, or
damaged must be replaced with a factory replacement
blade.
3. Fill the fuel tank outside. Clean off spilled fuel.
4. Read and follow the Owner’s Manual, the instructions
with the engine, and the instructions with any
attachments. Owner’s Manual instructions are for your
safety and the safety of others.
5. Exhaust fumes are dangerous. Start the engine
outside.
6. Make sure all safety devices are in place and working
correctly.
7. Operation of the mower is only for a person that has
experience.
8. Wet grass can be dangerous. Let the grass dry.
9. Instruct children and others to keep away from the
work area.
10. Never cut the grass without good light.
11. Pick up loose objects. Remove them from the mowing
area.
WHILE MOWING
1. Watch for fixed objects and avoid them. They can
damage the mower or cause injury.
2. A hot engine and muffler will cause a burn. Do not
touch.
3. Inclines and slopes must be carefully mowed.
4. Lack of daylight or good artificial light is cause to stop
mowing.
5. Examine the mower, the blade, and other parts for
damage after hitting a foreign object or if the unit
vibrates excessively.
6. Do not make adjustments or repairs without stopping
the engine (except for carburetor). Dis-connect the
spark plug wire.
7. On or near roads, watch out for traffic. Direct discharge
away from roads.
8. When mowing, avoid areas where traction is unsure.
Before and while moving backwards, look behind and
down for small children.
9. In heavy grass, raise the cutting height. Cut slower.
Stop the engine to remove clogged grass from the
mower.
10. Never remove any safety related parts.
12. Do not pour gasoline into a engine that is hot or
running.
AFTER MOWING
1. Always let the mower cool before storing in an
enclosed area.
2. Foreign material on the mower is dangerous. Clean off
grass, leaves, grease and oil before storing.
3. Tighten all loose nuts, bolts and screws before you use
the unit.
4. Clear grass from inside of the mower.
5. Remove the key or disconnect the spark plug wire to
prevent unauthorized use.
6. Make sure the mower is not kept near a source of
ignition. Gas fumes can cause an explosion.
7. Only original parts or factory approved substitutes can
be used to service the mower.
8. When storing the mower for an extended period,
remove the fuel from the fuel tank.
9. Instruct children to leave the mower alone. It is not a
toy.
10. Never keep gasoline near a source of ignition. Always
use an approved container. Keep gasoline away from
children.
11. Lubricate according to the Instruction Book. See
“Lubrication”.

ASSEMBLY
CAUTION: Before setting up the lawnmower, disconnect the
spark plug wire from the spark plug, and ground it against the
engine by attaching rubber boot to a bolt or metal clip to the
grounding post on the engine.
Assemble the handle
Unfold the upper handle(11), and secure the upper handle to
the lower handle(10) with the handle secure levers(3).
CAUTION: Be careful when you fold or raise the handle.
Do not damage the cables. A cable that is bent will not work
correctly. Before you use the unit, replace a bent or damaged
cable.
Attach the recoil-start grip
Twist the recoil-start rope through the rope guide mounted on
the right side of the handle to attach the recoil-start grip(5).
NOTE: If you cannot attach the recoil-start grip because
the rope is too short, hold the engine stop lever against the
handle. Slowly pull the recoil-start grip.
