MAINTENANCE

Normal maintenance, replacement or repair of

emission control devices and systems may be

performed by any qualified repair establishment or

individual with original or equivalent parts. Warranty

and recall repairs must be performed by a

authorized service center; please contact customer

service for assistance.

WARNING.

Before inspecting, cleaning,

or servicing the machine, shut off

engine, wait for all moving parts to stop,

and disconnect spark plug wire and

move it away from spark plug. Failure to

follow these instructions can result in

serious personal injury or property

damage.

WARNING.

Always wear eye protection

with side shields marked to comply with

ANSI Z87.1, along with hearing

protection. Failure to do so could result

in objects being thrown into your eyes

and other possible serious injuries.

WARNING.

When servicing, use only

recommended or equivalent

replacement parts. Use of any other

parts could create a hazard or cause

product damage.

NOTE:

Periodically inspect the entire product for

damaged, missing, or loose parts such as screws,

nuts, bolts, caps, etc. Tighten securely all fasteners

and caps and do not operate this product until all

missing or damaged parts are replaced. Please

contact customer service or a qualified service

center for assistance.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Avoid using solvents when cleaning plastic parts.

Most plastics are susceptible to damage from

various types of commercial solvents and may be

damaged by their use. Use clean cloths to remove

dirt, dust, lubricant, grease, etc.

WARNING.

Do not at any time let brake

fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based

products, penetrating lubricants, etc.,

come in contact with plastic parts.

Chemicals can damage, weaken or

destroy plastic which could result in

serious personal injury.

You can often make adjustments and repairs

described here. For other repairs, have the trimmer

serviced by an authorized service dealer.

SPOOL REPLACEMENT

Line diameter: ø2.4mm x 2.5m
Stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug wire.

Hold the line head, push down the releasing tab,

Fig.24 and unscrew the spool retaining cover by

hand in a anticlockwise direction.
Remove the empty spool from the string head.

Keep the line attached to the spool.
To install the new spool, make sure the two lines

are captured in the slots opposite each other on the

spool and each line is extended approximately 152

mm beyond each slot, Fig.25.
Thread the strings into the spool holes in the line

head. Carefully push the spool into the line head

(gently pull the lines to the outside if necessary).

When the spool is positioned in line string head,

grasp the strings and pull sharply to release them

from the slots in the spool. Screw on the spool

retaining knob by locating the fixing tabs, pushing

down and rotating in a clockwise direction making

sure it is securely fastened.
