UTS-3 All Weather

Telephone Test Set

Instruction Leaflet

It is important to take the following precautions when using your UTS-3 all weather tele-
phone. This way it gives you a long and trouble free life.

1.

Don’t

- dismantle your UTS, its sealed for life.

2.

Don’t

- force it underwater, its waterproof not submersible.

Don’t

- use is as a hammer.

4.

Don’t

- swing it by its cord.

5.

Don’t

- use cheap zinc carbon batteries, they leak and they let you down when its

cold.

If you keep it clean it will be more pleasant to use. First brush-off any loose dirt. Avoid
brushing dirt into the apertures. Wipe the surface to remove greasy residues. Use mild
solvents or detergents, don’t use high pressure cleaning jets or force the UTS under-
water. Cable cleaning wipes are ideal. If you drop it into deep water it will float - just
shake water out of the apertures and you’re ready to go - no damage, no repair. Remove
any burrs on the case with a sharp knife or sandpaper. Replace your line cord if it looks
worn - before it lets you down, it’s quick and easy.

Dialling

UTS automatically selects tone dialling when connected to a line.

Pulse/Dialling selection

Connect to line then press PULSE before you go off-hook (idle or monitor mode). You can
switch to tone dialling part way through a call by pressing * (not dialled out).

The dialling

mode will revert to tone when returning to idle mode or if the line is discontinued for 1 sec-
ond.
