8.4 How to Rig a Mast-Head Float
1. Inflate the mast-head float
2. Place the webbing straps of the
mast-head float either side of the
metal eye in the head of the
mainsail, and feed the main halyard
through.
3. Tie the main halyard off using a
knot-on-knot.
4. Fold the mast-head float loosely
around the luff of the mainsail.
5. Gently feed the mainsail and the
mast-head float into the mast track.
6. Pull on the main halyard to hoist
the mainsail.
7. When the mainsail is at the top of
the mast, cleat the main halyard, coil
the excess halyard, and stow it in
the halyard bag.
