How to use the chain tool (A/1)
DANGER
Risk of accident due to an incorrectly fitted chain!
Incorrectly assembled chains may suddenly break under load.
• A chain may only be removed and fitted by people with experience in bicycle maintenance works.
• Please follow the chain manufacturer‘s instructions.
• Once a chain has been riveted, you should not break the same link repeatedly.
• A chain must not be opened and re-joined more than two times. The distance between the subsequently installed chain pins
should be as large as possible.
• Do not use a chain pin to join chains with a master link. Make sure to fit an appropriate connector link to these chains instead.
• A chain that is too long or too short may have a significant influence on the functioning of the drivetrain.
• In case of any questions or if in doubt, seek the assistance of a qualified bicycle mechanic.
How to remove a chain pin:
1. Push the button of the chain guide (H/1) and place the chain into the chain tool.
2. Turn the handle (H/5) and push the chain pin all the way out.
How to insert a chain pin:
1. Take the open ends of the chain and join them with a chain pin.
2. Push the button of the chain guide (H/1) and place the chain into the chain tool.
3. Turn the handle (H/5) and push the pin into the chain.
How to replace a chain pin:
If the chain pin is worn, you can replace it with a replacement pin (product code: 2225038, not included)
The retainer nut (H/2) has a left-hand thread. Turn the nut clockwise to loosen it!
1. Completely remove the extractor bolt (H/5) from the chain tool.
2. Undo the retainer nut (H/2) by turning it clockwise and remove the chain pin (H/3) from the bolt.
3. Make sure that the ball (H/4) is in the bolt.
4. Insert the replacement pin into the bolt and tighten the nut.

How to remove Press Fit bottom brackets
F2.1 Screw the M10 nut (F2/2) in until approximately the middle of the threaded rod (F2/6). Insert the plate (F2/3) into the bottom
bracket at an angle and push the threaded rod through the plate until the nut (F2/2) presses the plate against the bottom
bracket shell.
F2.2 Push the removal tool (F2/5), the washer (F2/1) and the M10 nut (F2/2) one after the other onto the threaded rod (F2/6) and
then tighten the M10 nut with a 17 mm open-end spanner.
F2.3 Screw in the threaded rod (F2/6) with an 8 mm hex wrench and turn the M10 nut (F2/2) with a 17 mm open-end spanner until
the bottom bracket is completely pulled out.
Take the bottom bracket shell out of the frame and repeat the steps to remove the second bottom bracket shell.

How to install Press Fit bottom brackets
F3.1 Push one of the two press-in cups (F2/7) and one of the two bottom brackets onto the threaded rod (F2/6).
F3.2 Push the threaded rod (F2/6) with the press-in cup (F2/7) and bottom bracket through the bottom bracket shell and push the
second bottom bracket and the second press-in cup onto the threaded rod.
F3.3 Screw the nut (F2/2) onto the threaded rod (F2/6) and make sure that both bottom brackets are in contact with the bottom
bracket shell without tilting to the side. Press the bottom brackets into the bottom bracket shell by tightening the threaded rod.
Check during pressing in that the bearing shells are not at an angle.
Maintenance and Care
Regular care and maintenance ensure high durability and reliability, as well as unlimited functionality. ROSE Bikes recommends
carrying out the following tasks:
• Handle the tools with care and make sure to protect them from damages and corrosion during storage. A proper functioning of
the tools largely depends on their condition.
• Damaged tools should no longer be used.
• Regularly clean the tools and grease the metal parts with universal oil to prevent corrosion.

How to use the cable cutter (A/18)
The cable cutter is designed for cutting cables and housings. Not suitable for cutting hydraulic brake hoses!
G1. Unlock the cutter by flipping the safety lever (G/1).
G2. Cut the cable or housing.
G3. After shortening a cable housing, it can be widened with the pin.

How to use the master link pliers (A/17)
Master link pliers can be used to open and close master links. Please check the master link manufacturer's specifications.

Opening a master link
1. Hook both chain ends into the chain holder of the chain wear gauge (A/20) in such a way that the master link can be opened
without trouble.
2. Press the bolts of the master link together and remove the master link.

Closing a master link
1. Hook both chain ends into the chain holder of the chain wear gauge (A/20) in such a way that the master link can be closed
without trouble.
2. Attach both parts of the master link to the chain ends. Ensure the correct alignment of the master link and check the
manufacturer's instructions for specific requirements.
3. Push the bolts of the master link apart until you feel it engage.
4. Verify the tight fit of the master link.
