Heavy top or bottom pattern 1. Air cap is damaged or Dirty
2. Fluid nozzle is damaged or dirty Clean or replace air cap
Clean or replace fluid nozzle
Heavy right or left side pattern Horn hole of left or right side is plugged
or damaged.
Dirt on left or right side of air cap. 1. Determine if the obstruction is on
the air cap or nozzle. Do this by
making a test spraying pattern.
Then, rotate the cap one-half turn
and spray another pattern. lf the
defect is inverted, obstruction is
on the air cap. Clean the air cap as
previously instructed.
2. lf the defect is not inverted. lt‘s on
the nozzle. Check for a fine burr on
the edge of the nozzle. Remove it
by fine sanding.
3. Check for dried paint just inside
the opening; remove by washing
with solvent. Clean. Ream with
non-metallic point.
Heavy Center pattern Fluid flow too high for atomization air.
Material flow exceeds air cap‘s capacity.
Spreader adjustment valve set too low.
Atomizing pressure too low.
Material too thick. Balance air pressure and fluid flow.
lncrease spray pattern width.
Thin or lower fluid flow. Adjust. lncrease
pressure. Adjusting viscosity properly.
Jerky or fluttering spray Loose or damaged nozzle/seat. Seal
installed incorrectly.
Low Material level.
Container tipped too far. Obstruction in
fluid passage. Dry or loose fluid needle
packing nut.
Loose or broken fluid inlet nipple. Tighten or replace. lnstall per directions.
Refill.
Hold more upright. Back flush with
solvent. Lubricate or tighten. Tighten or
replace.
