Inspect the drive chain (A) for dirt and chain tightness:
1 Open the motor enclosure
2 Clean the chain with solvent
3 Spray the chain with chain spray type lubricant
(Zep 2000 or equivalent)
4 Verify clutch torque at the hook shaft:
a Start with hook in position (C) with tip of hook
≈ 2.5in [64mm] above carriage side plates.
b
Use a flex-beam style torque wrench (B) to rotate
hook shaft/hook down toward stored position,
to test the torque Record the maximum torque
achieved just before clutch slips
c If the clutch torque measured is less than
500 in-lbs, gear motor should be replaced
5
The drive chain should have 1/8in [3mm] to 1/4in
[6mm] slack. To tighten chain:
a Open motor enclosure and loosen the 4 motor
mounting bolts (D)
b Pry the motor assembly forward, in the slotted
holes, until the chain is tight (with proper alignment
between sprockets)
c Hold in this position and tighten each bolt to
105 in-lbs in increments of 10 in-lbs
