6.5.1 External RAID
Data may be exported via Ethernet to an external RAID . For stepwise instructions on
setting up a location on the sonar system or on a remote IP to store the water column
data, see
section 4.2.2 UDP Broadcasting and the example in Figure 46 .
BROADCASTING EXAMPLE
From the Add Records dialog , choose as a minimum for water column mapping the following
records:
7000 Sonar settings
7004 Beam geometry
7008 Beam data (obsolete)
– can contain the full water column data or just snippets
depending on the survey software in use
or utilize the new improved record (provided that it is accepted by the 3rd party
visualization software):
7018 Beamformed data
– contains the full water column data
For instructions on water column data recording locally, see section 5.7.5 Data Recording . See
also the example in Figure 47 .

6.5.2 Local Recording
Data may be recorded locally . For stepwise instructions on selecting specific records to
record on an attached storage directory, see section 5.7.5 Data Recording and the
example in Figure 47 .
DATA RECORDING EXAMPLE
From the Data Recording Setup dialog , choose as minimum for water column mapping the
following records:
Baseline records preselected: 7000* Sonar settings, 7004* Beam geometry, 7006*
Bathymetry (legend), 7011 Compressed image data, 7017* Bathymetry (for UI display
ONLY), 7027* Bathymetry (RAW for hydrography), 7503* Sonar settings*
Water column data:
o
7008 Beam data (obsolete)
– can contain the full water column data or just
snippets depending on the survey software in use.
or utilize the new improved record (provided that it is accepted by the 3rd party
visualization software):
o
7018 Beamformed data
– contains the full water column data
*The minimal set of records already selected cannot be removed and are needed for correct
interpretation of ancillary records.
