Renkforce 1891379 Operating Instructions Download Page 2

Getting started

•  Switch on your computer and wait until the operating system has booted completely.
•  Connect the barcode scanner via the provided USB cable with a USB port in your computer. The barcode

scanner will then beep.

In order to disconnect the USB cable from the barcode scanner, insert a thin object, such as a

curved paper clip, into the small hole at the bottom of the handle while at the same time carefully

pull the cable out of the socket.

•  The computer will detect the new hardware and install the required drivers. Those are integrated into the

operating system (basically, the barcode scanner works like a USB keyboard).

•  Open the document on your computer where you want the barcode to be recorded. The bar code data

(for example, an EAN number combination) will be inserted where the cursor is blinking (for example, a

field in a spreadsheet).

•  Position the reading unit at the front of the barcode scanner at an adequate distance and at a slight angle

to the barcode. Depending on the size and specification of the barcode, you may need to adjust the space

between reader and barcode individually.

•  Press the shutter release button to read the barcode (the red illuminated area should be more or less

above the barcode). If the reading process is successful, you will hear a beep and the LED control display

on the top of the barcode scanner will flash briefly in green. The barcode is converted into the correspond

-

ing characters and transmitted to the computer.

Settings

A sheet with barcodes is included. You can use those to adjust the barcode scanner to your scope of applica-

tion. To configure the barcode scanner simply scan the respective barcode.

The barcode scanner can be reset to the default settings by scanning a special barcode, if necessary.

Tips & hints

•  The characters read by the barcode scanner are transmitted to the computer the same way like a con-

ventional keyboard. Thus, the cursor should be set to the position where you want to have the characters

inserted, before starting a scan.

•  Make sure that the barcode to be read is clear. The barcode to be read should be fully visible and not

damaged.

•  The distance between the barcode and the reader is chosen depending on the size of the barcode. The

smaller the barcode, the closer the reader needs to be to the barcode.

Care and cleaning

•  Disconnect the product from the mains supply before each cleaning procedure.
•  Use a dry, lint-free cloth to clean the product.
•  Never use abrasive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions, since these could dam-

age the casing or even impair operation.

Disposal

Electronic devices are recyclable materials and do not belong in the household waste. Dispose

of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statutory regulations. That way you

fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
