Installation and Start-up
a) Fastening the control unit
Before you start the installation, keep in mind that the IR receiver of the con-
trol unit must be placed so that a flawless reception of the control signals of
the IR remote control is possible.
A direct optical contact between the IR LED of the IR remote control and the
IR receiver is beneficial, however it is not a prerequisite. The IR light (invis-
ible to the human eye) of the IR remote control is reflected by many surfaces.
Before you proceed to the permanent mounting of the control unit and the IR
receiver, check that they function properly.
• The control unit can be screwed down via two straps located on the side of the
housing. Depending on the mounting site, you can also fasten the control unit using
cable ties or a double-sided adhesive tape.
When you fasten the control unit, pay attention when drilling and tightening
the screws that no cables or pipes are damaged.
• Fasten the IR receiver of the control unit to a suitable place, e.g. by using a strip of
adhesive tape or a cable tie.
b) Installing the LED strip
• The LED strip can be mounted on suitable surfaces, such as furniture or similar
objects, using the adhesive tape located on the bottom side.
The LED strip must be mounted in such a way that it is not exposed to me-
chanical stress. The strip must be mounted so that no one can step on it,
otherwise it will be damaged.
• Carefully clean the surface onto which you want to mount the LED strip from dust,
dirt and grease before sticking it, otherwise the adhesive tape will come off the
surface.
• Then slightly remove the protective strip and stick the LED strip bit by bit onto the
mounting surface. However, do not use force when pressing down.
The LED strip can be cut off at the indicated points. The individual LED strip
parts can be electrically reconnected using the connectors provided.
c) Connecting the LED strip to the control unit
• Connect the 4-pole connector of the LED strip to the respective 4-pole socket of the
control unit using one of the plug-in connectors enclosed.
Make sure the labellings of the connectors match (labelling “+ - - +” on the
socket of the control unit should point at the labelling “+ - - +” of the LED
strip).
• The plug connection can be protected from unintentional disconnection by using a
strip of adhesive tape.
d) Connecting the power adapter
• Connect the round low voltage plug of the power adapter to the appropriate round
socket on the control unit.
• Connect the power adapter to a proper mains socket of the public power grid.
e) Inserting Batteries into the IR Remote Control
• Open the battery compartment on the back of the IR remote control and insert two
batteries of type “CR2023”, while paying attention to the correct polarity (plus/+ and
minus/-). Close the battery compartment again.
• The batteries need replacing if the range of the IR remote control decreases or the
control unit no longer responds to the IR remote control.
Functional description of the IR remote control
Point the LED on the front of the IR remote control at the IR receiver of the control unit
and press the corresponding key.
“ON”
key to switch the LED strip on
“OFF”
key to switch the LED strip off
“CW”
key for selection of the light colour “cold-white”
“CW”
key for selection of the light colour “warm-white”
“*”
key to reduce the brightness
Key “
*
”
to increase the brightness
The light colour can be set to “cold-white” and “warm-white” as desired, using the
large circular surface on the IR remote control.
Maintenance and Cleaning
• Apart from the occasional replacement of the batteries in the IR remote control, the
product is maintenance-free.
The integrated LED bulbs are permanently installed and they cannot be replaced.
• Before carrying out any cleaning, the product is to be disconnected from the mains
voltage. Pull the power adapter out of the mains socket.
• The outside of the product should only be cleaned with a clean, soft, dry cloth.
Do not use aggressive cleaning agents or chemical solutions that could
damage the housing (discolouring) or impair operation.
Disposal
a) General instructions
Dispose of an unserviceable product in accordance with the relevant statu-
tory regulations.
Remove any inserted batteries and dispose of them separately from the
product.
b) Batteries and rechargeable batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used bat-
teries/rechargeable batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited.
Contaminated batteries/rechargeable batteries are labelled with these sym-
bols to indicate that disposal in the domestic waste is forbidden. The desig-
nations for the heavy metals involved are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb
= Lead.
Used batteries, rechargeable batteries as well as coin cells can be returned to collec-
tion points in your municipality, our stores or wherever batteries/rechargeable batter-
ies/coin cells are sold.
You therefore fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the
environment.
