1. General Description
1.1 Overview
The T58 Ethernet Option is a small circuit board that is installed inside the
MX800 transceiver to allow diagnostic data from the MX800 and remote
control function of the radio to be sent over a UTP Ethernet link. Unlike the
previous T34 option it replaces, T58 also supports both normal serial
communication from application such as
MXTOOLS3
to the radio through
its serial port and Ethernet communication simultaneously.
When using the
MXTOOLS3
software, the T34 board sends and receives
data to the MX800 motherboard normally as long as communication via the
Ethernet connection with the MX800 is inactive. The T58 does not have this
limitation.
The T58 includes a web server to output web pages for analysing the health
of the host MX800 using a standard HTML web browser.
The T58 board currently intercepts some of the serial data port of the MX800
and converts the MX800 data to and from IP packets that are transferred over
the ethernet link.
Since T58 Option monitors the diagnostics state of the radio, it can generate
an Email warning if there’s an alarm detected from the radio. The T58 can
communicate to the SMTP server using authentication (AUTH LOGIN),
however it does not support SSL (Secure Socket Layer) connection to the
SMTP server.
As a new feature over the T34 Option, T58 also supports Digital
mute/squelch pot control of the radio through
MXTOOLSRD
.
